Linking to other websites is relatively easy, but can be a science. This page features a brief introduction to the art of linking, followed by some tips for linking to Invisible Republic websites, along with some free linking imags.

You probably already know how to create links. If so, you can skip the Linking 101 section below...except please read about title attributes if you aren’t familiar with those critters.

Each section features an example of the HTML code needed to create a simple text link to that website, like this...

<a href="http://www.invisible-republic.org/" title="Invisible Republic">Invisible Republic</a>

You are not required to follow this exact format. These are just examples for your convenience.

There are also many free images you can use instead of or in addition to a text link. Any of the images displayed below can be used without written permission for linking to or otherwise publicizing the website(s) each image represents. If you’d like to use them for some other purpose, feel free to contact me. Feel free to rename the images as you see fit.

Each image’s size in pixels is indicated, with width followed by height. For example, the image below is 200 pixels wide and 36 pixels high.

200 X 36

Most images are displayed in front of a background with varying colors. That should give you an idea of how each image will look against backgrounds of various colors. Notice that some of the non-rectangular images don’t look too nice against dark backgrounds. However, most of them can be adapted to dark backgrounds. If you need a particular image for a certain type of background, please contact me.

And that’s about it. Just find the website you want to link to in the Page Menu, and take it from there.

I’d love to post links to some websites that link to mine, especially those that use images form this page. So please contact me if you’d like to be listed.

No Hot Linking

Please do not link to any images on this or other Invisible Republic websites without my permission. You are welcome to download images from this page and publish them to your website.

Reciprocal Links

Yes, if you link to one of my websites, I’ll give you a reciprocal links. However, I haven’t figured out the format I want to use yet. I think I’ll add a special page to each website for this purpose.

Linking 101

This is an example of a simple link:

<a href="http://www.hello.com/">Hello.com</a>

In other words, that’s an example of the code you would insert in your HTML to produce a text link that looks like this: Hello.com

Title Attribute

It works, but we can improve it by adding a title attribute, highlighted in red text in the example below...

<a href="http://www.hello.com/" title="Hello.com">Hello.com</a>

The resulting link looks the same - Hello.com - But place your cursor over it and see what happens.

More important, the title attribute make links more appealing to search engines. In other words, if you want to publicize and promote a website, link to is using title attributes.

Note that the text in the title attribute does’t have to match the link title that you see on your web page. Here’s an example...

<a href="http://www.hello.com/" title="Visit Hello.com!">Hello.com</a>

Hover your cursor over Hello.com now.

PLEASE include title attributes in all your links to Invisible Republic websites. I’ll return the favor if I link back to your site.

Images

To link an image, rather than text, you would simply replace the text in your code with an image tag. For example, I used the code below...

<a href="http://www.billysoft.org/" title="Billysoft"><img src="/Linking/images/BS/Names/MSBR150Ani.gif" alt="Microshaft" width="150" height="30"></a>

...to produce this linked image:

Microshaft

Does that look too complex? Fortunately, good web design programs, like Dreamweaver, allow you to easily insert and link images.

Some of the coolest links combine images and text. Here’s an example:

Visit Freedomware!
Anti-Microsoft image

And here’s the code I used to create it, with the visible text highlighted in bold, and the image portion highlighted in blue.

<a href="http://www.freedomware.us" title="Freedomware">Visit Freedomware! <img src="/Linking/images/FW/NoMS.gif" alt="Anti-Microsoft image" width="125" height="55"></a>

If you know how to work with CSS, then you can do lots of other cool things, like position your links and images, alter their appearance, etc.

You can use this code or modify it to create a simple text link to Invisible Republic:

<a href="http://www.invisible-republic.org/" title="Invisible Republic">Invisible Republic</a>

And here is the code you would use to link to Fifth Republic:

<a href="http://www.fifth-republic.org/" title="Fifth Republic Party">Fifth Republic Party</a>

Any of the images below can be used without written permission for linking to or otherwise publicizing Invisible Republic or Fifth Republic, each of which is represented by the numeral 5 (or Roman numeral V). The fonts used in these images (other than the buttons) are Arial, Papyrus and Silom.

(General Rules and Instructions | Linking 101)

You can use this code or modify it to create a simple text link to Education Revolt!:

<a href="http://www.education-revolt.org/" title="Education Revolt!">Education Revolt!</a>

Any of the images below can be used without written permission for linking to or otherwise publicizing Education Revolt! (www.education-revolt.org). As some of the images below suggest, I also have a website at www.edrevolt.org. It’s easier to remember than www.education-revolt.org, to which it forwards traffic. If you use these images, you can link them to either site, though www.education-revolt.org is probably best.

The only fonts I used in these designs are Arial and Impact.

You can use this code or modify it to create a simple text link to Jail4Bush:

<a href="http://www.jail4bush.org/" title="Jail4Bush">Jail4Bush</a>

Any of the images below can be used without written permission for linking to or otherwise publicizing Jail4Bush.

It’s hard to miss the fact that some images say Death4Bush, not Jail4Bush. What’s that all about?

Well, I’ve been using Jail4Bush.org to promote the idea that George W. Bush deserves the ultimate punishment for his almost unbelievable treason and war crimes. In my opinion, he should be sentenced to death, though others may argue that he should spend the rest of his life in prison.

But are these images legal? I am not making a death threat. I’m simply stating my belief that a corrupt politician should receive the same punishment civilians have received for much lesser acts of treason (and war crimes). I should also note that I’ve been promoting these ideas on my websites for years, and no government official has ever paid me a visit.

On the other hand, one never knows what our fascist government is doing behind our backs. Could your name wind up on a secret list if you pust a Death4Bush image on your website? Frankly, I think you’ll be safe, but I can’t give you a definitive answer.

However, since these are my most provocative images, I’m especially anxious in knowing about websites that use them. So, if you have the courage to push the limits of free speech by posting a Death4Bush image on your website, please let me know. Residents of other nations are especially encouraged to display these images.

You can use this code or modify it to create a simple text link to Viva Chávez!:

<a href="http://www.viva-chavez.org/" title="Viva Chavez!">Viva Chavez!</a>

If you want to add the accent over the a, replace a with &aacute in the title attribute and text (not in the link itself).

Any of the images below can be used without written permission for linking to or otherwise publicizing Viva Chávez. The images in the two columns on the left are probably most appropriate.

The numeral 5 and Roman numeral 5 (V) also have symbolic connections to Hugo Chávez and Venezuela. However, I also use them to represent the websites Invisible Republic and Fifth Republic Party.

I have one more Viva Chávez image at the bottom of both the left and right column of this table. When designing my images, I studied images other pro-Chávez websites use as linking images.

For example, the website VenezuelAnalysis.com displays the images in the column on the left (except the one at the very bottom). To help me really get into the spirit of things, I embarked on a sort of contest to see if I could improve any of these images. My revisions are in the column on the right.

I think I did improve a few images, though I couldn’t come up with any good ideas for others, and still others are very nice as is.

At any rate, this offers an illustration of how linking images can be organized, especially when each image is the same size.

Again, none of these image are mine except the red and blue design on the very bottom. I don’t think anyone will object to my using these images, because we’re essentially comrades united in the same cause, and I’ve linked each image to its owner’s website.

Nevertheless, I’ll be happy to remove an image if someone objects.
